“All Sleep” by A.C. Moyer is a set of four short stories all dealing with the theme of death. The first story, and my favorite, is called “Floaties” and tells the story of a psychiatrist treating a new infamous patient, while also dealing with his own personal demons. I was drawn in right away with this first story, but unfortunately I didn’t find any of the other stories as engaging. I could have read a whole book about the characters in that first story, and I was intrigued by some of the other characters but just didn’t care about them in the same way. My least favorite story was “Nymphets” about a modeling agent who is trying to find the perfect preteen model, which could have been quite interesting but fell a little flat in the end. I gave this one three out of five stars because I do find promise in Moyer’s storytelling ability, I’d like to see what Moyer would do with a full length book rather than just these short stories.
