Imagine what life would be like if you woke up one day and seemed to be the only sane person left in the world well… that’s what has happened to Matthew. All around him people are doing unusual things and he can’t figure out what has happened. Eventually he meets another “sane” individual in Jeremy. They form an alliance of sorts to figure out what has happened to everyone else. Soon they discover cone shaped aliens are behind the dumbing of the human race, but why were they not affected and can they stop them and save the world?
The beginning of this book gave me a little big of a “28 Days Later” vibe, minus the infected, though it ended up a little more like “War of the Worlds.” Aliens aren’t really my cup of tea, but I appreciate Mr. Bailey taking a different approach with them – their reasoning for coming and their looks were something I’d never come across before. My biggest complaint with this book is that I wanted it to just stay in Matthew’s point of view, I didn’t really like when it switched. Overall, I’m sure any science fiction fan would enjoy this book and I gave it a 4 out of 5.
