Review: The List

The List (The Carolina Killer Files #2)The List by Kiersten Modglin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The people of Bates, South Carolina are scared. It wasn’t always like this, but now people are scared for their children and scared to leave. Every six months a list is posted, and six names of local children are put on it and one by one these children will die. No one can stop it from happening, and no one can talk about it either. Pregnant Jordyn Atwood and her husband Connor have recently moved to Bates, knowing nothing of the list, but soon enough Jordyn has discovered it and will do anything she can to stop it so that her son will never be put on it.

This is the third book I’ve read from Ms. Modglin and, as the others, another page turner. This book is mainly told from Jordyn’s perspective, though we get some changes and read from the list maker’s perspective and a couple times from Bates’ residents. I thought this was a good idea to show how the list affected everyone in the town. The only reason I gave this book three stars was because I figured out who was behind the list about half way through the book, but I was compelled to keep reading to discover the whole outcome, and although most loose ends were taken care of, I still have some questions. This was still another enjoyable thriller from Kiersten Modglin, three out of five stars.
